RLAF Community Grants

RLAF supports projects that create meaningful, sustainable impact and reflect the spirit of Rahmatan Lil Alamin (Blessings to All). We look for initiatives that:

Build People

Develop the skills, leadership and capacity of volunteers and participants.

Meet Real Community Needs

Address genuine challenges faced by communities, with clear and measurable outcomes.

Strengthen Communities

Foster inclusion, collaboration and stronger connections across diverse communities, with added emphasis on multi-faith engagement.

Create Lasting Impact

Deliver benefits that extend beyond a one-off activity, with potential for sustained or long-term impact.

Demonstrate Ownership

Show strong planning, realistic budgeting and shared commitment through co-funding or applicants’ own fundraising efforts.

Give Back Locally

For overseas projects, include at least one pre- and one post-project Community Involvement Project (CIP) in Singapore to ensure learning and impact continue at home.

Applications are assessed holistically based on their potential to deliver meaningful, sustainable impact.

Community Need

Demonstrate a clear understanding of your target beneficiaries, supported by research, needs assessments or partnerships with organisations familiar with the community.

Project Design & Implementation

Present a well-structured proposal with clear objectives, planned activities, realistic timelines and measurable outcomes.

Monitoring & Evaluation

Show how you will measure the success of your project through appropriate indicators, such as attendance, surveys, feedback or other impact measures.

Budget & Funding

Provide a realistic and transparent budget that aligns with your proposed activities. Projects that demonstrate co-funding or independent fundraising are encouraged.

Project Management

Show that your team has the capacity to successfully plan, manage and deliver the project, with appropriate financial oversight and risk management.

Community Participation

Demonstrate how your project will engage volunteers, participants or partners, and foster meaningful community involvement.

Sustainability

Explain how the project’s impact will continue beyond the funding period, whether through ongoing community ownership, partnerships or a model that can be sustained or replicated.

Local Impact (For Overseas Projects)

Overseas projects should include at least one pre-project and one post-project Community Involvement Project (CIP) in Singapore, demonstrating how learning and impact are brought back to the local community.

Alignment with RLAF’s Mission

Projects should reflect the spirit of Rahmatan Lil Alamin (Blessings to All) and help raise awareness of RLAF’s mission through appropriate project communications and outreach.

RLAF Community Grants support projects that develop youth volunteers and embody the spirit of Rahmatan Lil Alamin (Blessings to All). Funding may cover eligible programme-related expenses, including:

Travel & Pre-Project Preparation

• One reconnaissance trip for project leaders who have not previously visited the project site or met the overseas partner (up to 50% of return airfare, taxes and necessary travel expenses).
• Other essential pre-project preparation costs where applicable.

Project Implementation

• Programme materials and resources.
• Logistics and operational expenses.
• Venue, transportation and project-related costs.
• Materials that directly support volunteer development and beneficiary engagement.

Project & Overseas Expenses

• Meals, accommodation and local transportation.
• Teams are encouraged to stay within or close to the host community to foster deeper engagement and cultural exchange.

Operations & Safety

• Telecommunication expenses.
• Insurance (minimum S$200,000 coverage, including emergency medical evacuation).
• Medical-related expenses, including vaccinations, health screenings, first aid kits and anti-malaria medication where required.

Marketing & Outreach

• Marketing and communications costs that support project delivery and awareness.

Identity & Representation

• Expedition attire and banners featuring the RLAF logo.

Other Eligible Expenses

Other programme-related expenses may be considered on a case-by-case basis if they are necessary for the successful delivery of the project.

How Funding Is Disbursed

RLAF Community Grants are disbursed on a reimbursement basis.

• Grants are released after project completion.
• RLAF does not provide upfront funding.
• Reimbursement may take up to 3 months after all required documents have been submitted and verified.

Required Documents

To process reimbursement, applicants must submit:

• A Post-Programme Report
• A Certified Statement of Accounts (SOA), endorsed by an authorised signatory (e.g. Chairman of a mosque, CEO of an organisation, or Student Affairs Office of an educational institution)
• Receipts and supporting documents for all claimed expenses
• High-resolution project photos (via a Google Drive or Dropbox link)

RLAF will provide the required templates upon project completion.

All claims are reviewed to ensure funds have been used in accordance with the approved budget, maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the grant process.

Grant applicants are eligible to undergo training sessions organised by RLAF. Successful applicants are also required to attend a grant disbursement ceremony to formally receive their grants.
